Brief history

  • October 19, 1995 Announcement of establishment of National 119 Rescue Service (Presidential Decree No. 14791)
  • December 27, 1995 Establishment of NRS (Banghakdong, Dobongu, Seoul)
  • August 22, 1997 Start of 119 SAR Team in the Ministry of Home Affairs (Presidential Decree No. 15382)
  • July 28, 1999 Transfer of the NRS office to its current site
  • November 1, 2000 Voted Chair Nation of UN INSARAG, and hosted the INSARAG Asia-Pacific Regional Meeting in Seoul
  • March 02, 2001 Establishment of Highway Rescue Team as an affiliate unit in Incheon Airport
  • May 27, 2004 Taken in as an affiliate organization under the newly launched NEMA (Presidential Decree No. 18390)
  • September 01, 2004 Revision of status as an affiliate organization under NEMA (Presidential Decree No. 19032)
